Having finally finished my first year at the University of Florida, I can confidently say that I do not know nearly as much as I thought I did going in. As a graduating high school senior, I thought I had everything figured out. I was stubborn in my beliefs and convinced of my academic prowess. Over the past year though, I have been exposed to so many new people who have had such different lives than my own. I find myself not only more tolerant of opposing viewpoints, but actually excited to hear and engage with opinions that contradict my own. I've met a close group of friends who function essentially as a support group as we tackle the notorious "weed out" science and math classes – spoiler alert! turns out it's much harder than high school.

Despite the challenging pace of the classes, I have immensely enjoyed the depth of the content and absorbing knowledge that I know will aid me in my future career. I look forward to what the next three years of university will bring.
